Hi! I am Cathy Harper and I am so excited to be guest designing for ADORNit. I love ADORNit products…just so inspiring and easy to create with.

We recently moved to the cold prairie of Aberdeen, South Dakota from Rapid City, South Dakota. I had my own little scrapbook boutique on Main Street for 4 years…until my husband found his dream job here. I sold my store and now have lots of time to design and create. We are just a couple of weeks away from moving into our dream home and I can’t wait to set up my new scrap space.

I have been married forever to the sweetest man who supports my hobby. We have two kids, Alex and Maxenzi, a gorgeous daughter in law, two grandkids and lots of 4 footed children too! You can find my blog here: Scrap Playground. I would love to have you stop by!

I have four project to share with you created with the ADORNit Capri Taupe Collection. I fell head over heels for the Capri line, so I could hardly wait to get my hand on this gorgeous new line!

For my first card, I simply layered lots of banners with the coordinating papers, added one of ADORNit’s gorgeous clear stickers and layered a couple of more banners. A paper doily and few little touches and it was complete.

I just knew this Hot Air Balloon card (file is from Lori Whitlock Design ID #37860) was perfect for this collection when I saw it one morning on the Silhouette Online Store. I could hardly wait to get it all cut out and assembled. I added a bit of machine stitching, a couple of the fun border stickers and cardstock stickers.

I enjoyed creating these layouts Capri Taupe Collection. The colors and prints are pure perfection and make creating so dang easy…everything just falls together and looks amazing when finished.

ADORNit Blender Basics

Have you heard? ADORNit now has beautiful blender papers that are a delight to work with! We adore this layout that Eileen created using each beautiful paper. Here’s how:

1. Begin with 22476 Black Damask designer as your paper base.

2.Cut an arrangement of 1×1 squares out of each blender paper. Make sure to keep them organized in the color family.

3.Using the backside (diagonal stripe) begin gluing each square as shown above.

4. Finish by adding a photo and small dimensional elements.

We adore our new Princess scrapbook collection. The pink and gray combo is so cute and trendy! Angela Pruitt, junior editor at Scrap N Art Magazine created this beautiful layout. She fussy cut the pink castle, clouds, and flowers to add a beautiful dimension to her daughters photo. Thanks so much for sharing with us Angela!

Sample Spree

Sample Spree is an event the night before the International Quilt Market opens. It is one of the funnest events mainly because of the rush of excitement from store owners eager to purchase. The event is only 2 hours long and the store owners begin to line up hours before the doors open waiting in a huge line. When those doors are finally opened the woman burst through and run to their favorite vendors to snatch up product before they are sold out. See exhibit A of how the hall turns into a fun mad house LOL

(Sample Spree: where manufacturers come to sell products like kits, fat quarters, and other products allowing the store to purchase small quantities and no minimums so that the store can “sample” it and make up displays for their retail front) Georgie helping the crowd of ladies lined up at the ADORNit table top loading up on our fun yummy fabric.Adorable Jackie handing off some fat quarter bundles to a happy customer :D our goal at ADORNit is to make everyone around us feel happy!!

and did we mention the darling ADORNit bags the woman got when they shopped with us. Isn’t that bag just adorable??? We had yet again another super fun and successful sample spree and can’t wait to see the fun projects creative people make with the ADORNit Fabric!!!!

Storefront Showcase Saturday

We had to Showcase this darling shop in Utah…. Pine Needles!!
This quilt shop is nestled in a charming little village (yes that’s right I said village) Gardner’s Village.

Greeting you right at the door, is a store where every nook and cranny is filled with delightful projects!!
Pine Needles carries the latest ADORNit fabric collections and ADORNit Pattern Books.

In September Pine Needles hosted a trunk show featuring all the ADORNit “Capri” Pattern Book projects.

So of course Amy Chappell designer of the darling “Rows of Ruffles Throw Pillow” from the ADORNit Capri Pattern Book had to go visit the spotlight on her project!! (Debra Hawkins from Housewife Eclectic snapped this pic)

Here is another darling project that ADORNit Girl Georgie found nooked on a shelf. It was created

with our sassy two toned chevron fabric and jumbo diamond fabric from the ADORNit Capri Taupe color way.

And isn’t this “Tu Tu Cute”?

Pine Needles sewed it using the Capri Fabric Collections from the pattern “Tu Tu Cute” by Cute Quilt Patterns.
